A Day of Remembrance

Cincinnati’s 4th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance was held on November 16th at the St John United Church of Christ in Bellevue, Kentucky and was co-sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign of Greater Cincinnati and Crossport of Cincinnati.  Crossport is a gender support organization providing social, educational, emotional, and functional support for all facets of the transgender community.  This year’s program included an historical perspective by Vicky Blum and Opening Reflections by Estelle Riley. The key note speaker was Leisan Smith, Program Director of LGBTQ Center at the University of Cincinnati.  The program ended with a stirring arrangement of “Born This Way” by Amy Annette Wardwell. Special thanks are given to our partners: Crossport of Cincinnati, St. John United Church of Christ, TransOhio, Chef Lisa Pinckney, Amy Annette Wardwell, and University of Cincinnati LGBTQ Center. Commendations are given to Vicky Blum with Crossport and Chris Flowers and Jennifer Vanlandingham; both diversity and inclusion committee members with HRC of Greater Cincinnati.  Estelle Riley and Ron Hirth with HRC of Greater Cincinnati, and Tyler Thompson, student at University of Cincinnati.
