On December 8, 2011 the HRC Phoenix Federal Club hosted their annual holiday party and it was a success. Speaker Rob Woronoff was present and delivered some inspiring words.
Rob Woronoff, MS, has worked with and on behalf of LGBT children, youth and families for more than 20 years. He is currently the director of Family Builders’ Putting Pride into Practice Project, a program designed to increase the capacity of California counties to address the needs of LGBT youth in care of the child welfare system.
He is also a lead trainer for HRC’s All Children All Families initiative and sits on the All Children All Families National Advisory Council. Rob has worked as a trainer for the Hetrick-Martin Institute in New York City; managed HIV prevention programming for gay men with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, where he also coordinated the Massachusetts Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth; and as the LGBT Program Director for The Home for Little Wanderers in Boston, he developed numerous programs including New England's first group home for LGBT foster youth.
From 2003-2007, Rob was the LGBT Program Director with the Child Welfare Welfare League of America in Washington, DC where he coordinated a national initiative dedicated to improving systems of care for LGBT foster youth and families.
He is the author of numerous articles and publications about LGBT youth and families; has appeared as a featured expert on LGBT adoption on National Public Radio’s On Point and Talk of the Nation; and has contributed to news stories that have appeared in Time, CNN, USA Today, the New York Times, The Advocate, the Boston Globe, the Miami Herald and others.
He has served on numerous boards of directors, task forces and advisory committees with organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, the American Bar Association, the Tides Foundation, the North American Council on Adoptable Children, the federal Substance Abuse/Mental Health Services Administration, and the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
Rob currently lives in Los Angeles where he is developing a new network TV series based on the experiences of foster children and families.
