As Vice President, Finance and Operations, Jim Rinefierd is responsible for managing key infrastructure for HRC including: financial planning, reporting and financial operations; information technology; data analytics and strategy; facilities including on-site security operations; corporate insurance; and administrative operations. Jim serves as Treasurer of HRC and HRCF and HRC’s PACs. He serves as primary staff for the Finance and Audit Committees of the Boards of Directors.
Jim joined HRC in 2007 bringing twenty-five years of financial management experience earned in upstate New York. Beginning in research contracts administration at the University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics, Jim moved to corporate financial planning at Bausch and Lomb. Jim moved from Bausch and Lomb when presented with a unique opportunity to serve as Director of the Office of Management and Budget of Monroe County, New York. This position was followed by fourteen years as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester, New York. Everything changed when Jim came out in 2006.
Jim appreciates the unique opportunities and experiences afforded by HRC. He is passionate about the work, his colleagues, and the amazing Board members and volunteers who support the critical work of the organization.
Jim received a bachelor’s degree in Geology and an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester.
Jim and his husband Dan live in northeast DC.
