Sonia Davis Gutierrez, founder and president of New Design School and principal of 3c21 Design LLC, knows that equality is good for business. That is why she was proud to take the Equality is Our Business Pledge.
Gutierrez firmly believes that instructors, designers, students and clients should be treated fairly no matter how they identify, including gender identity and expression, or sexual orientation. Instead, her values focus on the merits and quality of work with clients and students.
The New Design School has had a non-discrimination policy since it’s inception, proudly including sexual orientation and gender identity. After publishing the policy, the school experienced a 58 percent increase in enrollment in their academic program. Gutierrez says, “Students can trust New Design School to be fair, to listen to their needs and to be a safe, supportive environment for all people.”
