HRC was proud to join Equality North Carolina and other coalition partners across the state to stand alongside the NAACP-NC for the annual Moral March on Raleigh & HKonJ People’s Assembly on Feb. 10. Equipped with rally signs, “RESIST” t-shirts and the spirit to stand up for the rights of everyone, we made our presence known.
Despite the cold and rainy weather, thousands of people poured into downtown Raleigh to join together to make a powerful statement: United we stand; divided we fall. HRC welcomed and thanked our partners for being present to support voting rights, equality, health care, Dreamers, reproductive rights and more.
As the march began and the weather warmed up, so did the spirit of our chants, reflecting the diversity of our voices:
No matter the chant, it was clear that we are all connected and that the harmful legislation being introduced across the country harms each and every one of us. Repealing DACA not only hurts hundreds of thousands of immigrants but it damages the fabric of this country.
It is vital that we uplift the voices of black lives and transgender lives, too often at the margins of our movements. We must support the rights of each and every person present, both seen and unseen.
We marched with our partners to reaffirm our commitment to fight for equality, and we will keep on marching all the way to the ballot box in November. We are fired up and ready to go! We are HRC Triangle!
