PrEP Access Webinar Series

Wednesday - Tuesday, December 8 - 14, 2021

Join HRC and the Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation of Harvard Law School for three exciting discussions about new regulatory changes that improve the availability of pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, used to prevent the transmission of HIV.

Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021 | Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021 | Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021

In 2019, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force gave PrEP a Grade A rating, in recognition of the overwhelming efficacy and safety of the intervention. As a result of this rating, most private health insurance plans and Medicaid expansion programs are required to cover PrEP without cost sharing. This year, new federal guidance has underscored and further promoted comprehensive PrEP coverage, clarifying that coverage of PrEP includes all necessary testing and counseling. While these advances are encouraging, there is much work to be done to ensure that these requirements are met and enforced and that people have access to this effective prevention tool.

The webinar series will explore the new PrEP coverage requirements, what states and advocates are doing to promote effective education and enforcement, and what these changes mean for providers and consumers.
