HRC supporters in Arkansas gathered at the home of Federal Club Members Tucker Holmes and Nathan Pendleton in Bentonville.
Post submitted by James Rector, HRC Arkansas Field Organizer
Last month, HRC supporters in Arkansas gathered at the home of Federal Club Members Tucker Holmes and Nathan Pendleton in Bentonville. Project One America Director Ben Needham, HRC Arkansas State Director Kendra Johnson and HRC Arkansas Field Organizer James Rector joined the group, discussing the important electoral work and programing that HRC is doing in the Natural State.
Johnson addressed the crowd highlighting the 11 pieces of anti-LGBTQ legislation that failed to pass out of committees in Arkansas’ 91st general assembly. This success was all due to the hard work of constituents, business and pro-equality legislators.
Now more than ever, it is important to create an army of LGBTQ and ally individuals in Arkansas to ensure pro-equality candidates are elected in the upcoming 2018 mid-terms. Last month, HRC announced HRC Rising, a campaign to accelerate progress in states from coast-to-coast, resist the politics of hate, fight anti-LGBTQ legislation, and fuel pro-equality candidates and initiatives.
This initiative was modeled after Project One America, which is a comprehensive, campaign to dramatically expand LGBTQ equality in the South through permanent campaigns in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. Project One America works in the areas of legislative policy change, health care, youth, faith and volunteer development.
