HRC is proud to be working with AT&T to promote understanding, awareness and equality for the LGBTQ community.
Coming out - whether it is as LGBTQ or allied - matters. When people know someone who is LGBTQ, they are far more likely to support equality under the law. Beyond that, our stories can be powerful to each other.
That’s why HRC is proud to be working with AT&T to promote understanding, awareness and equality for the LGBTQ community. Together, we’ve launched an innovative college scholarship contest called “Live Proud on Campus” designed to increase LGBTQ visibility on campus.
The contest, running until September 22, focuses on LGBTQ equality, visibility and acceptance on college campuses and universities. LGBTQ and allied college students ages 18 and older are invited to enter the scholarship contest by submitting a video pitch explaining their idea for a project that supports the LGBTQ community. The winners will receive an incredible prize package including a $10,000 scholarship as well as $2,500 in funds to execute their project. HRC will provide a Spring 2018 mentorship program as the winners work to execute their on-campus projects and further develop their leadership skills.
AT&T is a long a leader in LGBTQ workplace inclusion and has participated in HRC’s Corporate Equality Index since its inception in 2002 and has scored a perfect 100 percent since 2005. AT&T is also a sponsor of Time to THRIVE, HRC’s annual national conference to promote safety, inclusion and well-being for LGBTQ youth. With Live Proud on Campus, AT&T is leveraging their position as an inclusive corporate leader to further develop the next generation of LGBTQ leaders and create lasting impact.
