With Election Day right around the corner, this Saturday, September 9, is the final day to cast an early vote in the Charlotte municipal primary election. Early voting means shorter lines and waiting periods, as well as the opportunity to fix any issues with registration and/or changes to voting records. With one-stop early voting, voters can register and vote on the same day.
On Tuesday, September 12, voters from across Charlotte will head to the polls to cast their ballot for mayor, city council and city council members at-large. One-stop early voting ends at 1pm on Saturday, so until then it’s all hands on deck to get as many supporters to the polls as possible before election day.
We encourage HRC members and supporters to cast their vote to re-elect Mayor Jennifer Roberts, a champion for LGBTQ equality. Mayor Roberts has stood side by side with the LGBTQ community from supporting the passing of Charlotte’s Non-Discrimination Ordinance to fighting to defeat two legislative attacks from Raleigh - HB2 and HB 142. She has proven her commitment to LGBTQ equality and that’s why HRC as well as our friends at Equality NC and MeckPAC are proud to support her and we hope you will too by casting your vote for Mayor Roberts.
For the past two weeks, HRC’s North Carolina Steering Committee, HRC staff and volunteers have launched voter contact effort to reach out to our members who are registered voters in Charlotte and push them to the polls to vote early. Thousands of HRC supporters across Charlotte have received phone calls, text messages and emails sharing information about the importance of this election, our support for Mayor Roberts and encouraging them to vote early.
When polls close on Saturday, we want to know we’ve reached out to our HRC members to get votes in the door early – because we know every vote counts.
So if you haven’t cast your ballot yet or if you’ve already voted and want to help a friend, family member or neighbor to the polls, find early voting locations and times by visiting visit www.meckboe.org.
