HRC Arkansas kicked off the holiday season earlier this month with one it’s most cherished annual events: Friendsgiving. Every year, HRC Arkansas staff and volunteers come together to celebrate community and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal together.
“We know the holiday season in general can be difficult for a lot of people in the LGBTQ community, so we hold space for a stress-free holiday get together with members of the community,” said HRC field organizer James K. Rector.
Every year, Christ Episcopal hosts the potluck-style meal. Members of partner organizations, including the Arkansas Transgender Equality Coalition, Integrity and PFLAG, joined the festivities. In previous years, Friendsgiving became a community service project as partygoers served homeless families near the downtown church.
This year, Friendsgiving is one of two HRC Arkansas holiday events. The next gathering will be a fundraiser held on December 7 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. RSVP here.
