This survey is the leading benchmark tool evaluating LGBT-inclusive policies and best practices among major Mexican employers and multinationals.
This week, the HRC Foundation launched the fourth edition of its HRC Equidad MX: Global Workplace Equality Program survey, the leading benchmark tool evaluating LGBT-inclusive policies and best practices among major Mexican employers and multinationals. The groundbreaking success of the program is reflected in the growing number of participating companies in the survey and achieving top ratings for LGBT workplace equality.
Since 2017, this vital program has been driving positive change in workplaces across the country’s major business and has established its presence in Mexico City as well as in other major cities, including Guadalajara and Monterrey. On the first week of Pride Month, recognizing the challenges and progress regarding workplace inclusion efforts is critical to continue advancing welcoming workplaces and greater inclusion for LGBT employees.
This year the pioneering program focused on expanding its outreach throughout regional markets to engage with Mexican-owned businesses and grow greater LGBT workplace inclusion beyond Mexico City. In the coming months, the Mexico-based initiative will collect responses to the survey, which will culminate with a full report of the results later this year.
The HRC Equidad MX program assesses businesses and corporations based on three core pillars of LGBT inclusion:
“The outstanding growth experienced by HRC Equidad MX in the past three years attests to the genuine commitment of corporate leaders and LGBT champions who helped it become the leading survey promoting LGBT workplace inclusion in Mexico,” said Fernando Velázquez, HRC Equidad MX Implementing Partner. “We are proud to continue working with all of them to create better workplaces and achieve greater workplace inclusion for LGBT employees.”
“As we celebrate Pride Month, we are humbled to recognize the unprecedented success and change driven by this program over the years,” said Francisco Robledo, HRC Equidad MX Implementing Partner. “While we embrace this progress, it is critical to highlight the need to ensure LGBT-inclusive practices and policies among employers to offer safe spaces for the LGBT workforce in Mexico.”
Early this year, the HRC Foundation conducted a week-long visit to major Mexican cities, including Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City, to meet with corporate leaders and promote the participation of Mexican-owned businesses in the HRC Equidad MX program. In its third annual edition, the program recognized 120 employers with the HRC Foundation’s designation of “Mejores Lugares para Trabajar LGBT” for earning top scores — 36 of these employers are Mexican companies.
Since its inception, the program has experienced an enthusiastic response from hundreds of corporate leaders committed to LGBT equality, placing Mexico as one of the leading countries for LGBT workplace inclusion in the Americas.
