June 6 was HRC Night at Trustmark Park Stadium in Pearl, Mississippi. More than two dozen HRC members and staff turned out to watch the Mississippi Braves take on the Biloxi Shuckers.
The night was both a great opportunity for fun and fellowship and an important chance for visibility as LGBTQ and allies joined together with people from all over Mississippi. HRC even received a shoutout over the loudspeaker and on the jumbotron.
Events like this are essential for community building, and they serve to engage more people in the important work for equality in Mississippi and beyond. Something like a baseball game can turn a fan into an advocate for equality over the course of just one evening.
We look forward to continuing this tradition as we reach out to our community to join in the fight for LGBTQ equality across Mississippi.
