Singer and songwriter Lauv is the latest artist to join HRC’s Equality Rocks campaign.
In an exclusive HRC video, Lauv, whose full name is Ari Staprans Leff, emphasized the importance of being a good ally to the LGBTQ community.
“For me, it’s important to be an ally, not just for a lot of my best friends, but for people out there who are afraid to use their voice or, you know, feel minimized” he said. “For me to be in a place where I can use my voice positively, to encourage other people to be themselves and to support LGBTQ equality, I feel like I’m in a position where I can speak out.”
Lauv released his first album, Lost in the Light, in 2015. In 2017, he released his breakout single "I Like Me Better,” which led him to being nominated for the 2018 Teen Choice Award for breakout artist.
HRC’s Equality Rocks campaign is sparking a conversation about love, fairness and equality around the globe. To join, visit www.hrc.org/EqualityRocks.
