The 2025 HRC Nashville Dinner will bring together hundreds of members, leaders and advocates from across Tennessee in support of LGBTQ+ equality
NASHVILLE — Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) – the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization – announced that it will honor Fancy Hagood with the HRC Visibility Award at the organization’s annual Nashville Dinner. Hagood unapologetically embraces his LGBTQ+ identity and brings invaluable visibility and representation to the country music space. His talent has led to two highly acclaimed country albums, “Southern Curiosity” and the recently released “American Spirit,” sharing his story with music lovers across the world. Joining Hagood at the event will be award-winning singer-songwriter, Kacey Musgraves. In 2022, the pair collaborated on a single titled “Blue Dream Baby,” which received praise from many prolific artists including Elton John. HRC President Kelley Robinson will also be speaking at the dinner, addressing guests about the fight ahead for LGBTQ+ equality. The 2025 HRC Nashville dinner will take place on March 8th.
“Expanding LGBTQ+ visibility in all spaces is such an integral part of this fight for LGBTQ+ equality. As Fancy Hagood takes the country music world by storm, his commitment to being authentically who he is lets the world know that LGBTQ+ people belong everywhere and our stories deserve to be heard,” said HRC President Kelley Robinson. “To also be joined by award-winning country music star Kacey Musgaves illustrates the power of having committed LGBTQ+ allies alongside us in the fight for equality. This will be a beautiful night of celebration and community building as we continue our work to advance LGBTQ+ rights.”
“It is such an honor to be receiving HRC’s Visibility award and to be joined by other LGBTQ+ advocates all committed to making our state and country a better place for our community. As a gay country artist who moved to Nashville at just 17 years old, I understand first-hand the barriers LGBTQ+ people face in this industry and beyond,” said country music star and LGBTQ+ advocate Fancy Hagood. “I also recognize the resilience of our community — we are powerful, we are fearless and we are strong — and we will continue to work together to overcome any barrier placed in our way.”
Fancy Hagood moved to Nashville at 17 years old with the dream of becoming an openly queer country artist. In 2021, Hagood released his first album “Southern Curiosity”, which blends country with the sounds of glam rock and confessional pop and was nominated for Best Country Record at the 2022 Libera Awards. In October of last year, Hagood launched his second solo album “American Spirit.” The album marks both a return and an arrival, leaning into his roots as a country singer. Hagood has collaborated with renowned talent including producers John Osborne, Jarrad K and Jeremy Lutitio. Additionally, Hagood has collaborated with other prolific music stars including Musgraves and Orville Peck. A native of Bentonville, Arkansas, Hagood now calls Nashville home.
“At its heart, country music is about real life and real people, and that includes the LGBTQ+ community. I’m grateful for the opportunity to support my friend and fellow country music star, Fancy Hagood, whose talent and authenticity is opening doors for more representation and inclusion in the industry,” said country music star and LGBTQ+ ally Kacey Musgraves. “I have a deep love for this community, and I remain committed to continue making this world a better place for all LGBTQ+ people.”
Kacey Musgraves, an eight-time Grammy Award winner, released her fifth studio album “Deeper Well” in March 2024. “Deeper Well” marks her biggest debut sales week landing at #1 on the Top Album Sales and her fifth #1 debut on the Top Country Albums chart. She launched the Deeper Well World Tour with sold-out shows around the globe and the album’s single, “The Architect,” won the award for Best Country Song at the Grammys. Beyond music, Musgraves collaborated with Boy Smells on a second candle, designed a sustainable fashion line with Reformation, and created a Deeper Wellness smoothie with Erewhon to benefit LA wildfire relief.
This year’s Nashville Dinner will bring together HRC’s most active advocates, members and supporters across the state to raise crucial funds in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. Tickets and further information are available at hrc.im/nashvilledinner.
