Robinson calls President Biden an “ironclad champion for LGBTQ+ rights”
NEW YORK, NY – Following last night’s presidential debate, Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson today is joining President Joe Biden at the opening of the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center in New York City to honor the 55th anniversary of the protests at the Stonewall Inn during Pride Month.
“On the debate stage last night, Donald Trump showed us he hasn’t changed one bit – he’s still a vindictive liar out for revenge and a threat to the American people,” said HRC President Kelley Robinson. “Don’t be distracted. There is too much at stake. This is a race between two fundamentally different visions for our country. While Trump has promised to roll back our hard-fought freedoms, the Biden-Harris Administration is the most pro-equality Administration in history and has worked tirelessly to defend the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans, women, and communities of color.”
“I am proud to join President Biden today at Stonewall as we commemorate Pride Month and the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights in America,” Robinson continued. “From passing the Respect for Marriage Act to protecting gender-affirming care for trans youth, President Biden has been an ironclad champion for LGBTQ+ rights. He has shown up for us time and time again, and Equality Voters will show up to defeat Donald Trump and elect Joe Biden and pro-equality champions this election.”
Today’s event at Stonewall underscores President Biden’s steadfast commitment to delivering historic, pro-equality wins for the LGBTQ+ community and stands in stark contrast with twice impeached convicted felon Donald Trump’s dark and dangerous hate-filled agenda that would be a disaster for LGBTQ+ Americans, women, and communities of color.
Biden-Harris Administration’s strong record of LGBTQ+ support
No other Administration has done more for the LGBTQ+ community than the Biden-Harris Administration. Some of the historic wins achieved in the Administration’s first term include:
Passing the Respect for Marriage Act
Reversing the ban on transgender Americans serving in the military
Reversing the ban on gay and bisexual men donating blood
Defending the right to gender-affirming care for transgender youth
Strengthening Affordable Care Act protections, including health coverage for LGBTQ+ Americans
Mobilizing LGBTQ+ voters and allies for historic wins in November
Human Rights Campaign recently launched its 2024 national voter education campaign – “We Show Up: Equality Wins” – which is backed by a $15 million strategic investment to reach voters in six swing states and a record-high 75 million identified Equality Voters nationwide to deliver major victories this November for President Biden, Vice President Harris, and historic LGBTQ+ and pro-equality candidates up and down the ballot.
