WASHINGTON – Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, announced that Dr. Jill Biden will deliver the keynote address at the 28th Annual HRC Atlanta Gala Dinner on Saturday, May 2, 2015.

"Dr. Jill Biden has been a tireless advocate for the LGBT community,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “For years, she has spoken out on LGBT issues from youth well-being, to anti-bullying efforts, to ensuring that our national dialogue reflects the lives of all Americans, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Through her leadership, she has sent a message to countless LGBT young people that they are valued as Americans and as human beings, and we are honored that she will be joining HRC in Atlanta to continue this incredible track record of support."

As a lifelong educator, Dr. Biden has used her experience to raise awareness on the need to end bullying and harassment of LGBT students. As a military mom, she has worked to ensure that all military spouses and their families are included in efforts to improve wellness, education, and employment opportunities for service members, veterans, and their families.

The 28th Annual HRC Atlanta Gala Dinner is an event that celebrates the progress made toward LGBT equality while looking towards a more just future for the LGBT community. The event is expected to draw over 1,200 guests and will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Atlanta with receptions starting at 5:00 PM.
