HRC: Arizonans Will Again Reject Anti-LGBTQ+ Trump Disciple Kari Lake in November

by Jared Todd

WASHINGTON — Today, Trump-praising, anti-abortion MAGA politician Kari Lake won Arizona’s Republican primary for U.S. Senate. Lake, who was rejected by Arizona voters in her failed gubernatorial campaign less than two years ago, continues to carry an anti-LGBTQ+ record and dangerous election fraud beliefs that are out of touch with the state – Arizonans deserve better.

Jared Todd, HRC Equality Votes PAC Spokesperson, released the following statement:

"Kari Lake’s entire agenda consists of turning back the clock on Arizonans’ fundamental rights and freedoms. She is a MAGA activist who supports the state’s 1864 abortion ban, opposes statewide nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ Arizonans, and continues to question the results of Arizona’s elections. The last thing Arizonans need is a wannabe senator who parrots Trump’s lies to gain power. The voters of Arizona deserve someone who will actually work for them, which is why they rejected Lake two years ago, and will reject her again in November."

More on Kari Lake’s record:

  • Lake called Arizona’s radical 1864 abortion ban a “great law” and said she would sign an abortion ban from the Arizona legislature in a “heartbeat” [Kari Lake, The Morning Ritual]

  • Lake echoed Trump’s false claims of election fraud and made similar claims about her own loss in 2022.

  • Lake opposes statewide nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ Arizonans [Center for Arizona Policy Action, 10/15/2022].

  • Lake stated that doctors who provide healthcare for transgender youth should have their licenses revoked [Virtual town hall, 5/23/2022].

  • Lake said it was “Evil” to affirm a child’s gender if it is different from gender assigned at birth.
