Washington– Upon the Hawaii Senate race being called for Mazie Hirono, Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin released the following statement:

“It will be a bittersweet moment when Senator Daniel Akaka leaves the United States Senate for well-deserved retirement in January, but we couldn’t be more thrilled that Senator-elect Hirono will be the one taking up his mantle.
