MILWAUKEE -- Today the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization, announced its endorsement of Ann Groves Lloyd for Wisconsin State Assembly District 42 in the special election to be held June 12, 2018.

“A proven champion for working families, Ann Groves Lloyd will fight for every Wisconsinite’s right to live and work free from discrimination and harassment,” said HRC Wisconsin State Manager Wendy Strout. “The Human Rights Campaign proudly endorses her candidacy to represent Wisconsin Assembly District 42, and we look forward to working with her to move equality forward in the Badger State.”

“I am so honored to be endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign,” said Ann Groves Lloyd. “As a lifelong activist for LGBTQ rights, I’m proud to have been connected to HRC for many years and have seen firsthand the impact they’ve had in advancing equality for everyone.  When I’m in the assembly, I’ll fight for the LGBTQ community every day. Thank you so much to the Human Rights Campaign for this endorsement of a lifetime.”

Currently an alderperson on the Lodi Common Council, Groves Lloyd has spent her career serving the people of Wisconsin, and fighting for equality, fairness and justice for all. She is a strong and vocal champion of LGBTQ equality, who supports marriage equality and expanding Wisconsin’s non-discrimination laws to include protections on the basis of gender identity.

In Wisconsin, HRC has identified more than 560,000 “Equality Voters” -- voters who support LGBTQ-inclusive policies including marriage equality, equitable family law, and laws that would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. HRC has prioritized investments and organizing in Wisconsin in the 2018 cycle, and has already put staff and resources on the ground in the state. Last year, HRC announced a coast-to-coast campaign called HRC Rising, which represents the largest grassroots expansion in the organization’s 38-year history.

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
