WASHINGTON – The day after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act and returned marriage equality to California, Human Rights Campaign president Chad Griffin traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, to highlight an urgent call to bring full equality – including marriage equality – to all 50 states. 

“We now have two Americas,” said HRC president Chad Griffin.  “In one America, yesterday’s victories felt like the final step forward in a legal and social transformation toward a just and equal future. But in the other—on the other side of a dark wall of discrimination—those victories are only a headline. To many, this progress belongs to someone else. Today we have to fight for the millions of Americans who don’t yet feel the reach of justice.”

Griffin joined Salt Lake City LGBT leaders for a press conference where they spoke about what the Supreme Court’s decision means for LGBT people in Utah and across the country, as well as the state of the LGBT equality movement in America.
