"They’re Playing politics with American Lives - Including LGBTQ+ Lives and Transgender Lives in Particular"
Washington, DC — Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) — the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization — condemned the recently released House Republicans’ midterms platform, the “Commitment to America” agenda.
Human Rights Campaign Director of Strategic Initiatives Justin Unga released the following statement:
"The so-called ‘Commitment to America’ in reality is a commitment to keep attacking our rights and our democracy. They’re playing politics with American lives - including LGBTQ+ lives and transgender lives in particular. The politicians and judges stripping away our reproductive rights, undermining access to the ballot, and attacking LGBTQ+ families will not stop unless the majority of Americans who oppose these dangerous policies stand up and make themselves heard this November. It’s critical that LGBTQ+ voters and our allies turn out to the polls to elect pro-equality, pro-choice, pro-democracy leaders who will advance our country forward - not drag us backwards.”
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people. HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ+ people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
