WASHINGTON -- Today the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization, announced its endorsement of Dan Feehan for election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota’s first Congressional District.
“Dan Feehan has spent his career in service to our country. He is a tenacious fighter, who will be a champion for Minnesota’s working families and a strong voice in the effort to move equality forward when elected,” said HRC Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs JoDee Winterhof. “HRC is proud to endorse his candidacy for Minnesota’s first Congressional District, and we look forward to electing another pro-equality champion to the U.S. House of Representatives come November.”
“I am humbled to receive this endorsement. HRC's commitment to, and advocacy for, civil rights is second to none,” said Dan Feehan. “Throughout my time serving our country as a soldier, as a teacher, and as a policymaker at the Pentagon, ensuring equal rights for all people, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity is something I have fought tirelessly for. I will continue to be a champion and strong voice for equal treatment under the law when I get to Congress.”
As a veteran and and a former acting Assistant Secretary of Defense, Dan Feehan has dedicated his life to serving his country and fighting for every Americans’ right to feel safe in their community. He is a strong champion for the LGBTQ community, who supports marriage equality and the Equality Act, crucial federal legislation that would finally guarantee comprehensive protections for LGBTQ people under our nation's civil rights laws. Feehan has also spoken out strongly against the Trump-Pence administration's ongoing efforts to ban qualified transgender patriots from serving in our military.
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
