Under his leadership Phoenix has consistently scored 100 on HRC’s Municipal Equality Index (MEI), the only nationwide rating system assessing LGBTQ inclusion in municipal law and policy in more than 500 cities across the country. Stanton also supports marriage equality and the Equality Act, crucial federal legislation that would finally guarantee comprehensive protections for LGBTQ people under our nation's civil rights laws.
