WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, announced its endorsement of Democrat Leticia Van de Putte for Texas Lieutenant Governor.
“The Human Rights Campaign is proud to announce our endorsement of Leticia Van de Putte for Texas Lieutenant Governor,” said HRC National Field Director Marty Rouse. “Senator Van de Putte has an extensive track record on equality issues, including voting against a proposed constitutional amendment that would discriminate against same-sex couples. During her role as ‘Governor For A Day,’ she publicly advocated to end employer discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. If this is the type of work she gets done in one day, we are confident she’ll get more done as Texas Lieutenant Governor.”
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign,” said Sen. Van de Putte. “This organization has worked tirelessly to end discrimination and to promote equality for all. Their support means so much to me. In all my years of public service, I have strived to make sure that every Texan’s rights are protected.”
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
