As a Cosponsor of Equality Act and the Landmark Respect for Marriage Act, Casey Has Been a Reliable Supporter of LGBTQ+ Equality

HARRISBURG — The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) PAC — the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization — announced that it is proudly endorsing Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey for reelection. HRC PAC is committed to engaging its volunteers, members and supporters to mobilize the more than 4 million Equality Voters in Pennsylvania in support of Casey and other pro-equality candidates up and down the ballot.

Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson released the following statement:

“Senator Bob Casey has consistently delivered for Pennsylvania voters and for the LGBTQ+ community in his three terms in the Senate. In a closely divided chamber, it’s more important than ever to send him to serve his Commonwealth once again in Washington and to ensure that we hold on to the pro-equality majority. The best way that the voters of Pennsylvania can stand up against MAGA bullies and the threat of Project 2025 is to vote for Senator Casey — the Human Rights Campaign is proud to support his reelection campaign.”

Senator Casey has earned a score in the upper 90s in the past three editions of HRC’s Congressional Scorecard, which rates federal lawmakers on their votes relating to LGBTQ+ equality, and has had consistently high scores throughout his time in the Senate. In 2022 and 2023, he led the Senate with the highest percentage of staff who reported belonging to the LGBTQ+ community. He is also a cosponsor of the Equality Act, federal legislation that would provide nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people throughout the country, and he voted in favor of landmark legislation such as the Respect for Marriage Act and repeal of the military’s harmful Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy.

HRC’s Commitment to Pennsylvania

Equality Voters, including the more than 4 million in Pennsylvania, are a voting bloc of demographically and geographically diverse Americans who are united by the advancement of LGBTQ+ equality. Equality Voters are younger, more racially diverse, and more female than the general electorate, they recognize and trust the HRC brand, and they are more likely to identify with issue-specific organizations than candidates or political parties.

HRC has had staff and resources on the ground in Pennsylvania since 2017. Across the country, HRC PAC works every day to elect pro-equality leaders who support policies that will support the rights and lives of LGBTQ+ people.
