Human Rights Campaign Endorses State Senator Sarah McBride for Delaware’s At-Large Congressional Seat

by HRC Staff

DOVER, DE — Today, the Human Rights Campaign PAC (HRC PAC) announced its endorsement of Delaware State Sen. Sarah McBride for U.S. Congress in Delaware’s At-Large congressional district. State Sen. McBride, a former national press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign, is the first openly transgender state senator in American history, and the highest-ranking transgender elected official in American history.

“The Human Rights Campaign is proud to support Sen. Sarah McBride as she runs to represent the families of Delaware. Sen. McBride understands that delivering for Delawareans requires bridge building and boldness—and she’s spent her entire life advocating for her neighbors and making real change.

“The proof of Sen. McBride’s effectiveness is in her results. In her time working with us here at the Human Rights Campaign, we saw first hand the passion with which she put in the work necessary for change. During her tenure in the State Senate, she’s worked to pass vital policies for her constituents, like paid medical and family leave and laws restricting the availability of assault weapons and high capacity magazines. Her advocacy is desperately needed in Congress, and her compassion and courage is what the people of Delaware deserve."

HRC’s Commitment to Voter Mobilization Efforts

Equality Voters, of which there are more than 62 million across the country and over 250,000 in Delaware, are a voting bloc of demographically and geographically diverse Americans who are united by the advancement of LGBTQ+ equality. HRC PAC will work to mobilize those voters, and more, to support pro-equality candidates in pursuit of recapturing a pro-equality majority. Equality Voters are younger, more racially diverse, and more female than the general electorate, they recognize and trust the HRC brand, and they are more likely to identify with issue-specific organizations than candidates or political parties.
