Building on decades of work with businesses in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality, the Human Rights Campaign’s first-ever Corporate Citizenship Report examines how corporations can work across all of their business operations to advance the inclusion, safety and flourishing of LGBTQ+ people within and outside their organizations.
In a challenging and dangerous political and cultural landscape for LGBTQ+ people, businesses are uniquely positioned to live out their stated values – and benefit their bottom lines – by activating their core business operations in service of inclusion and belonging.
HRC has identified six pillars of business operations where businesses can make significant impacts. This report explores how businesses can lean into these pillars, identifying examples and leading practices to inspire even more businesses to step in:
Workforce
Supply Chain
Products & Services
Marketing
Corporate Philanthropy
This report is the first of its kind. It is not a scorecard, as this is a fast-moving and evolving field of inquiry. HRC is committed to sharing these insights with the business community and to partnering with business leaders as they implement these strategies and develop their own innovations and experimentations across the six pillars.
In this new report that builds on decades of work with businesses in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality, the Human Rights Campaign examines how corporations can work across all of their business operations as allies to advance the inclusion, safety and flourishing of LGBTQ+ people within and outside their organizations
Employees are powerful advocates, both in and out of the workplace. We all have a unique story as members of the LGBTQ+ community or as allies, and we can use our voices to advocate for solutions that advance LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality within our organizations and with policymakers in local, state, and national arenas.
By telling our stories and joining with other advocates, we increase the likelihood and speed of achieving true inclusion and equality for all LGBTQ+ people, no matter where they live or work.
This guide is designed to empower aspiring advocates within employee resource groups (ERGs) – or other diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)-sponsored groups or committees – by explaining how to engage in advocacy outside of the workplace, how to collaborate with coworkers to amplify your efforts, and how to contribute toward enhancing your employer’s advocacy initiatives.
This template letter is designed for ERGs to communicate to senior leadership advocating for greater commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the company. It serves as a unified voice for employees encouraging leadership to prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion efforts that will strengthen company culture, improve employee engagement, and foster a more equitable and innovative environment.
Our CEI is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices and benefits pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees.
